Alex Brooker of Channel 4’s ‘The Last Leg’ is all for budding Prosthetists and Orthotists

Did you know that comedian Alex Brooker is Patron of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO)?
“Prosthetics have been vital in enabling me to live the life that I have, so I am delighted to be a patron of the BAPO. It was a privilege to speak at their conference and I look forward to working more with them in the future.”
The Last Leg and Channel 4’s wider coverage of the Paralympics have inspired a swell of mainstream enthusiasm for para sport and a growing interest in prosthetics.
Despite more mainstream knowledge and interest in prosthetics, there is still a shortage of Prosthetists – the Allied Health Professionals that design and fit prosthetic devices – and of Orthotists, their twin profession.

BAPO is part of the team of professional bodies who created I See The Difference, to inspire the next generation of Allied Health Professionals. They are a membership body for Prosthetics and Orthotics professionals and students, their motto is ‘empowering the profession to enable the user’.
Before he became the BAPO Patron, in 2018, Alex attended BAPO’s annual conference for members. He gave a speech and met the community of Prosthetists and Orthotists.
He is a celebrity example of the positive impact that Allied Health Professionals, like Prosthetists, can make in people’s lives,
